How the profit is calculated
- Start with the price the customer pays after your own discount, plus any shipping they pay.
- Take out tax (VAT or sales tax) when the price includes it.
- Subtract TikTok’s referral fee: the rate for your market and category multiplied by the fee base.
- Subtract your product cost after supplier discount, packaging, shipping, ads and any creator commission.
- If you count returns, the result is weighted by your return rate, including the refund administration fee.
Margin is profit divided by revenue after tax. ROI is profit divided by your product cost. The break-even price is the lowest price at which profit per piece is zero.

How much does TikTok Shop charge sellers?
TikTok Shop charges a referral fee on each completed order. In the US it is 6% for nearly all categories and 5% for some jewelry and pre-owned items. In the UK the standard commission is 9%. In Germany, Spain, France, Ireland and Italy it is 9%, or 7% for many devices. Shipping, creator commission and returns cost extra.
How is the TikTok Shop referral fee calculated?
In the US the referral fee is the rate multiplied by the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax. The base includes shipping the customer pays. In the UK and EU the commission is a percentage of the completed order total.
Is payment processing charged separately on TikTok Shop?
For most US orders seller guides report that payment processing is included in the referral fee. If your settlement report shows a separate processing line, add it in the calculator.
What happens to TikTok Shop fees when an order is returned?
In the US TikTok refunds the referral fee but keeps a refund administration fee of 20% of the referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU, according to TikTok Seller Academy as reported by seller guides. You also lose the shipping and any product you cannot resell.
Is this calculator exact?
No. It is an estimate based on TikTok’s public fee pages. Rates change, and your own account can have promotional or category-specific rates. Compare the result with one real order in your settlement report.
